Let them eat cake!

We took a nice day trip today to Versailles. It was a beautiful day, brisk but clear, and a beautiful place... not the kind of beauty to lose your head over, well OK - maybe it is.

There's a little slideshow that I've added to the blog - click on it, it should work. I'll update this some more tomorrow with deep thoughts about the nature of monarchy (right!), but for now the pillow calls (it took longer than I thought to get the slides working).

It was fun to talk with Carol and Joyce today on the video-skype! More tomorrow....

Bonjour mon amis! Lindsay left for Italy yesterday. The reality of it sort of snuck up on her when she started to pack. Presently she is in a hotel in Milan. When she awakes she will have to navigate her way to the train station with her luggage and figure out how to buy her ticket, get her heavy suitcases onto the train and make her way to Padova. She was quite nervous about this part of her journey. By this time tomorrow she will have joined her group and feel much more relaxed. Megan, if you get a chance, email her. I am sure she could use a friendly email!
The pictures on your blog are tres magnifique. Paris looks amazing. I can't wait to visit you in April. We played bridge at Mark and Marys tonight and everyone asked about you. You are missed! Grace, email me soon at work...that is all for now. Au revoir! Carol

Hi Grace, Kevin, Kathleen, Megan? & Carol ('cause you will probably read this, too!)
What a great idea to set up this blog. I hope to be able to check in from time to time. I haven't seen all the photos on here yet, but the ones of Versailles took me back 25 years (gosh, am I that old that I can say that!). You should go again in spring/summer when it is so green and all the fountains are flowing.
Trev brought home the package last night - thank you so much for sending on our shopping - Michelle says thank you, too. A special thank you for the pressie of Christmas baubles - they missed this year's tree, but will be first on next year's tree.
Have a fantastic time! Thinking of you all!
Meredith xo
